Waterfalls

Transform your outdoor space into a serene sanctuary with our expert waterfall services that add an enchanting touch of elegance to your property, elevating your home's aesthetic appeal and increasing its overall value.

Overview

A custom waterfall feature transforms an ordinary backyard into a peaceful retreat that you can enjoy throughout the warmer months. At Pedra Landscaping, we design and build naturalistic waterfall systems using hand-selected Ontario fieldstone, granite boulders, and premium liner systems that create the soothing sound and visual beauty of a natural cascade right in your own yard. Every waterfall we construct is engineered with a reliable recirculating pump system, biological filtration, and proper plumbing to keep water flowing cleanly with minimal maintenance.

Our waterfall designs range from gentle, stream-like cascades that wind through garden beds to dramatic multi-tier rock waterfalls that serve as a stunning backyard focal point. We work closely with you to integrate the water feature into your existing landscape -- connecting it to ponds, patio areas, or garden pathways for a cohesive look. Whether you live in Richmond Hill, Markham, or Vaughan, our team handles the full scope of work including excavation, liner installation, rock placement, pump setup, and planting around the feature. The result is a one-of-a-kind water feature that adds tranquility, wildlife habitat, and measurable value to your GTA property.

Our Process

01

Design Consultation

We visit your property, assess the terrain and existing landscaping, discuss your vision for the water feature, and present a design concept with rock samples.

02

Excavation & Liner Installation

We excavate the waterfall basin and stream path, install a durable EPDM liner with underlayment protection, and position the pump and plumbing lines.

03

Rock Placement & Construction

Our team carefully places boulders and stones to create a natural-looking cascade, securing each rock and directing water flow for the best visual and auditory effect.

04

Planting, Testing & Handover

We plant native species around the feature, test the pump system, adjust water flow, and walk you through seasonal care including winterization for Ontario.

Frequently Asked Questions

A properly built waterfall requires relatively little maintenance. You should clean the pump filter every few weeks during the running season, remove fallen leaves, and top up water lost to evaporation. In fall, we recommend a seasonal shutdown that includes draining the pump and protecting it from freezing. We provide full winterization instructions at handover.

Most residential waterfalls are shut down and winterized before the first hard freeze. Running water through winter is possible but requires specialized equipment, continuous monitoring, and higher energy costs. We recommend a seasonal shutdown and can provide spring startup services to get your feature flowing again.

No. Mosquitoes breed in still, stagnant water. A recirculating waterfall keeps water constantly moving, which prevents mosquitoes from laying eggs. The biological filtration also helps maintain water quality. If anything, your waterfall will attract dragonflies, which are natural mosquito predators.

Waterfall costs vary widely depending on size, height, rock selection, and complexity. Small, simple cascades start in the range of a few thousand dollars, while large multi-tier features with ponds and extensive rock work can be a significant investment. We provide detailed quotes after an on-site consultation so there are no surprises.
